Despite an unrealistic frequency of seeing rare animals in the wild (which made us all smile), we all enjoyed this audiobook. The intensity level was definitely up a notch from Book 1, but ages 8-12 is still a great range.
Isaiah, our POV 12-year-old, works through some big feelings and eventually takes responsibility for something. There’s a bit of disrespect toward his dad, which he immediately (mentally) acknowledges as wrong, but it takes him a while to apologize and make things right (which he does well).
There is a sweet, young girl with autism at a nearby campsite who plays a main role in the story.
