Book Thoughts: Lighthouse Christmas (Buzzeo)

  • due to a storm, a family must stay on their lighthouse island for Christmas
  • circumstances change their perspective toward making the most of it
  • convo: mother mentioned to have died (before the story takes place), Santa mentioned
  • inviting illustrations
  • a fun surprise at the end!

Type: picture book
Ages: 4-8
Author: Toni Buzzeo
Illustrator: Nancy Carpenter

The note in the back describes how elements of this story are based on real history, which is neat. I appreciated the realness of the kids’ feelings–there was some worry and sadness–but they were able to overcome that and keep good attitudes. Creativity and joy were the results.

We’ve not been able to find a copy to purchase, so we enjoy our library’s copy for now. I hope you can find this sweet Christmasy story for your own children!
