Book Thoughts: The Christmas Book Flood (Kilgore)

  • based on a true tradition in Iceland
  • every year, friends and family gift books to each other on Christmas Eve
  • they stay up all night reading and drinking hot chocolate
  • incredibly enchanting illustrations

Type: picture book
Ages: 3-10
Author: Emily Kilgore
Illustrator: Kitty Moss

It was so fun to see a book published on this sweet tradition many of us book nerds have appreciated! Now, in picture book form, we can share with our children the life-giving joys that reading can bring.

Magic is mentioned a number of times, but it is used in the context of my descriptions above–enchanting, life-giving, etc. Also, the back has some more history on how the tradition came to be in Iceland as well as how it’s spreading to other countries.
