*The above minimum age recommendation is solely because of the book’s length. If your younger child has a good attention span, the content is gentle and appropriate.

Have your children recently experienced a death in the family? Do they know someone with a long-term illness? This book would be a powerful tool for you to use with them as you navigate those emotions. It’s straightforward, walking you through the fall in the garden and why bad things happen.

It’s very rare you find a picture book that talks about suffering in a biblical way. It’s even more rare for that book to also be unashamed of young earth science (here are some articles on that). There are also some fun mentions of dragons, dinosaurs, and bits of the Japanese culture, including an instrument that we had never heard of before.

Overall, I’m very comfortable recommending this book. May it encourage you!
