This was an outstanding book. If you embark on the exodus journey with young Tirzah, you won’t regret it. The author’s gift of weaving a possible narrative with the biblical history is a treasure. Of course, I recommend being well-versed in the related Scripture passages to know what’s fiction and not, but just like when we read Christian biographies, we are encouraged and challenged by others’ experiences.
The book didn’t end at all as I had predicted. After mulling that over for a while, I like best how she did it as opposed to my “version.” That’s purposely vague so I don’t give anything away.
Many lessons could be taught through this story. There are strong illustrations of faith but also clear examples of doubt and disobedience. Over and over, just like in the Bible, we see the Hebrews being saved by God just to turn to other distractions and idols soon after. Oh, that we would but remember His marvelous works always and forever!
