Book Thoughts: In the Time of Noah (Wilson)

  • short, simplified version of Noah’s ark
  • chooses to interpret the Nephilim as sons of the fallen angels
    (often debated)
  • rightfully portrays the world’s wickedness so the reason for the flood makes more sense
  • clean language

Type: picture book
Ages: 6-9
Author: N.D. Wilson
Illustrator: Peter Bentley

This book, like the first in the series, will absolutely require some discussion in your family. Make sure your kids understand that this is just one man’s interpretation.

I found it interesting that Wilson devoted a few page spreads to Noah going out to collect animals and then taming them. Of course it’s possible, since the Bible doesn’t give details in this area. Some are of the opinion that God made the animals come to the ark and then many of them entered a long hibernation state. Again, just something to discuss.

Overall, it’s better than the first book, but one to be mindful with.
