This particular version has three hungry soldiers returning from war. Peasants see them coming in time to hide all their food but are kind to them in their denial of having anything to spare.
Before giving up, the soldiers put their heads together and come up with a creative solution. They and all the villagers end up with a feast fit for a king and have a jolly night together.
Your littles are sure to get a kick out of this one!
