Book Thoughts: Sorry (Really Sorry) (Cotler)

  • gives clear example of how bad moods have a domino effect
  • animals continue to be mean to the next one they run into until one of them reverses it and apologies work through the other way

Type: picture book
Ages: 4-8
Author: Joanna Cotler
Illustrator: Harry Bliss

Cow’s grouchiness was contagious. How true is that of our households/workplaces? One bad apple can sour the rest, right? This book can certainly introduce that conversation topic with your children.

My only issue is that the message can come across as “do what you want and then a ‘sorry’ will make it all cleared up.” Obviously, this is not the attitude we desire to be in our kids’ hearts and minds, but I believe the discussion can still be veered in the right direction.

Check it out if you’re looking for a book on forgiveness and reconciliation.
