- creative and innocent chapter book
- slight element of mystery
- theory of evolution taught as fact (briefly, in final chapter)
- reads aloud well
- language mostly clean (x1 stupid, x1 lie told)
- encourages screen-free thinking
Type: chapter book
Ages: 6-9
Author: Susan Bonners
I find I have a lot of thoughts on this book, and it’s not even that long!
One recommendation I’d give to parents is to make sure your kids know it’s fiction–and that our names and addresses probably shouldn’t be sent out into the world on a helium balloon. 🙃
And, personally, because we talk often about evolution vs. creation in our home (the only significant issue I have here), this book remains happily on our shelves.
Lastly, I dearly appreciate how responsible and respectful the two boys are. The main one is already thinking of how he will grow up and take care of his mother one day–the way it should be! (1 Timothy 5:4) 💙
