Type: chapter book
Ages: 8-14
Author: J.A. Myhre

What a unique combination of fantasy (i.e., talking animals) and a realistic setting! Portraying the vast difference between good and evil, this story includes a number of poignant moments during the boy’s travels through difficult terrain.

Speaking of that, the nature described throughout is absolutely stunning. When an author can make you truly see the scene and practically feel the weather, she certainly has a gift (and gives us one, too!).

I happened to read a digital copy of this (so I completely missed the glossary in back–definitely reference it!), but I’m planning on buying the physical copy when I can. If the subsequent books continue along the same vein, count me in.
