Book Thoughts: The Quilt Story (Johnston, dePaola)

  • a handmade quilt is the star of this story that passes through two generations
  • the quilt brings comfort and adds to imaginative play
  • could encourage a child to cherish items special to the family
  • clean language

Type: picture book
Ages: 3-8
Author: Tony Johnston
Illustrator: Tomie dePaola

With dePaola’s unique artistic style and a sweet narrative, this is a lovely read. Admittedly, my bias (we all have them!) is that I love quilt making, but I think it’s good anyway!
