Book Thoughts: The Quiltmaker’s Gift (Brumbeau)

  • a greedy king cannot find happiness no matter how many gifts he requires to be given him
  • thought-provoking story about the blessings that come from generosity
  • colorful and detailed illustrations

Type: picture book
Ages: 4-10
Author: Jeff Brumbeau
Illustrator: Gail de Marcken

This is a treasure of a book. What a vivid lesson it delivers through the interactions between the selfish king and the selfless old lady who makes quilts. It’s a bit of a longer read, but I’m convinced it will keep the attentions of most children. See if you can find a copy!
