Book Thoughts: Pinky Pye (Estes)

  • the Pye family vacations on an island for the summer
  • cats, birds, crickets and more creature fun!
  • convo: brief mention of evolution, pipe smoking
  • language: x4 stupid, x1 by jiminy

Type: chapter book
Ages: 7-10
Author: Eleanor Estes

If you’re looking for a non-suspenseful and upbeat chapter book for your children, definitely check this out. It would be great for a long car ride, summertime or for bird lovers. My favorite part, as a mom, is probably the really solid and exemplary sibling friendship throughout. That’s always refreshing to find in a book.

Though it can definitely be read by itself, I do recommend checking out the first Pye book (my review here) to get to know the family and its history. The Pyes live near the Moffats, who have their own little series by the same author. I’ll update this post if I get a review up for that one day!
Update: See the review on The Moffats here.

Enjoy. 🙂
