Book Thoughts: Noah: Rescue Plan (Mackenzie)

  • a retelling of the well-known story from Genesis (chapters 6-9)
  • creative and lovely illustrations
  • biblically accurate

Type: picture book
Ages: 2-7
Author: Carine Mackenzie
Illustrator: Fred Apps

We encountered this little gem through our Veritas Press curriculum. There’s nothing fancy about the text, but it’s written well. The artwork shows scenes not always shown in children’s storybooks; for example, the violent lifestyles of those killed in the flood or, later, the sacrifice Noah made upon disembarking.

The best part is when the author points out how the ark provided safety for those who believed God’s Word–if we obey Him and trust in Jesus, He is also our place of safety.

Overall, it’s a clean 5-star book I happily recommend!
