Book Thoughts: My Father’s Dragon (Gannett)

  • surprisingly enjoyable
  • great for kids’ first chapter book
  • beautiful b&w illustrations
  • main character lies & disobeys mother in beginning
  • language: queer, ding blast it

Type: beginner chapter book
Ages: 4-7
Author: Ruth Stiles Gannett
Illustrator: Ruth Chrisman Gannett

The only other thing I’d add to my bullet points is that running away from our problems is usually not the best solution. 🙂 But it’s a beginner chapter book with a sweet and silly storyline that will hook even very young listeners.

I haven’t read the rest in the series. If you have, please let me know how they compare!
