Book Thoughts: Mr. Zinger’s Hat (Fagan)

  • enjoyable exchange between a boy and an older man, imagining up a story together
  • ignites imaginations and brings smiles!
  • two different illustration styles to clearly differentiate between stories
  • clean language

Type: picture book
Ages: 4-8
Author: Cary Fagan
Illustrator: Dušan Petričić

I loved pretty much everything about this book–how the gentleman draws the boy into the story-making process so naturally and encouragingly, how the boy enthusiastically participates and, later, how he then teaches his new skill to a friend. Plus, I love cross-generational relationships. So important.

Do you have a young writer or storyteller in your family? They might particularly enjoy Mr. Zinger’s Hat. 🙂

Definitely recommend this one!
