Book Thoughts: Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH (O’Brien)

  • a mother mouse learns the remarkable history of her late husband
  • her quest to find help for her sick son turns into quite the adventure
  • new friends help save the lives of her family
  • convo: brief evolutionary comment
  • clean language (a great read-aloud!)

Type: chapter book
Ages: 6-10
Author: Robert C. O’Brien

This is a well-told tale with just enough suspense and intrigue to keep the pages turning (pretty safe for sensitive listeners/readers). The points above are kept brief on purpose–I don’t want to give anything away. 🙂

I actually pre-read it a while back to see if it’d be a good birthday gift. It was!! It’s one of those books I’ve ALWAYS heard about or seen on lists, but hadn’t ever read. Have you read it??
