Book Thoughts: Moonlight Animals (Golding)

  • highly engaging book with brief animal facts
  • key feature is an interactive flashlight of sorts
  • would make a great gift!

Type: science book
Ages: 3-8
Author: Elizabeth Golding
Illustrator: Ali Lodge

Don’t be deterred if you’re older than eight years old–this book is fun for all ages! Each page spread gives highlights/facts of a certain nocturnal creature and then has a nighttime image on which you shine a moveable flashlight (which is attached to the book). Below the animal facts is a section which shows all the creatures the child should be able to find on that page spread.

The featured creatures we learn about are: owl, fox, frog, bat and glowworm. But there are more animals to find in the pictures.

Your littles who are old enough to not pull out tabs (like a pop-up book might have) will be fascinated!
