Book Thoughts: Monet Paints a Day (Danneberg)

  • follows the infamous Claude Monet on one of his vacation days
  • includes some of his actual words and fact boxes in addition to the story line
  • illustrated in an “impressionist” style to mimic his own
  • back of book includes additional information on Monet and his painting techniques

Type: biographical picture book
Ages: 4-8
Author: Julie Danneberg
Illustrator: Caitlin Heimerl

My kids and I read this alongside an art study of a Monet painting. We always love biographies and true stories, though I’m not sure this one interested them as much as it did me. It’s nice to have on our shelves, though, for reference.
