Book Thoughts: The Heir of Mistmantle (McAllister)

  • third book in a wonderful fantasy series
  • gossip and a few catastrophes bring much fear to the island
  • working together, all things work out in the end
  • language: x2 “blooming” and x1 “girlfriend” (but then we learn they are engaged to be married, so it’s in the sense of “fiancé”
  • convo topics: beer and wine mentioned

Type: chapter book
Ages: 9+
Author: M.I. McAllister
Illustrator: Omar Rayyan

Wonderful themes are woven into this book, with the biggest one being “conquering fears.” There are also reminders of trusting in the Heart (the fantasy’s title for God), not gossiping, helping others selflessly, breaking generational sins (though they don’t use that word), and more!

Overall, as long as your children are old enough for this level of intensity, the Mistmantle Chronicles have been wonderful so far! I hope to read the final two books (they are being re-published right now) eventually and will update this post accordingly.

Here are my thoughts on the first two books:
Book 1
Book 2
