This is one those books the modern world rages at…which then makes me rate it even higher than I likely would have. 😉 History is history, we can’t pretend things like this didn’t happen. I think it’s a perfectly fine book for a child 8+ to read. But, without giving away anything, I personally hate how it ends. 😬🙈
Speaking of spoilers, the foreword in our copy gives things away! I put a post-it note on that page for my son when he read it the first time–telling him to read it after the story. However, if your child is sensitive to the intensity, maybe do a quick pre-read and see if the Foreword would help thwart problems.
