I fear that the frenzied pace of our modern culture doesn’t give enough allowance for simpler tales like this one. Mary Jones’ story is not going to be appreciated by the cynical and desensitized crowd always seeking its next thrill. Rather, it is a sweet and gentle example of true faith and biblical perseverance.
Oh, that we would yearn for the words of God like Mary does!
Her diligence ends up inspiring the man who began the Bible Society and this book includes some brief, lovely stories of faithful people whose lives were changed by this ministry.
A note about the audiobook by Generations: the British reader speaks very clearly but somewhat babyish (for lack of a better word). Strangely, it fits the book, and I didn’t mind it. However, some might find it too sweet. Generations really does an excellent job at recording (I’ve listened to multiple of theirs)!
Please consider incorporating Mary’s story into your family time. It will encourage, convict, and hopefully strengthen the faith of all who hear it!
