Book Thoughts: The Littlest Christmas Elf (Buss)

  • an elf is smaller than all the other elves and struggles finding something he can help with
  • he learns the power of friendship
  • illustrations have a comfortably vintage feel

Type: picture book
Ages: 3-6
Author: Nancy Buss
Illustrator: Terri Super

I thought I’d include this one in my posts this year, because it pops up on recommendation lists from time to time! My only beef with it is that none of the other elves are kind to the small one–it seems unresolved in that sense. However, he goes on to make a friend and that friend’s kindness overpowers any of the negativity.

It’s a short, cute read as long as your kids know that Santa is just a pretend character. 🙂
