If you don’t know by now, I love lighthouse books! Each one of them portrays a different aspect of how lives looked back when lighthouses were run manually. This one reminds us of how restricted the keepers could be regarding what type of land they had around their home. Moving to a very rocky location, the family was sure that nothing could grow there (but could it?).
My only complaint was that it ended too abruptly for me, but that’s a small matter. It was a nice story. The back of the book has a few more facts about the story as it was based off a true one in Maine.
