Book Thoughts: Leonardo Da Vinci (Stanley)

Leonardo da Vinci (Stanley) | keenlykept.com
  • illustrated biography of Leonardo da Vinci, famous artist, scientist & inventor
  • convo: mentions a boy is born to people not married, mentions “a great believer in astrology” and “the twelve signs of the zodiac,” some description of his cutting up dead bodies in order to draw them, Stanley definitively declares the global flood did not happen (she agrees with what da Vinci thought), a boy is nicknamed “little devil”
  • language: stupid x1
  • includes a helpful pronunciation guide up front

Type: very long picture book
Ages: 8+
Author & Illustrator: Diane Stanley

Though it’s not my favorite of Stanley’s biographies, it’s still worth reading. We definitely learned more about da Vinci’s life than we had previously from other sources. Look for it if you’re studying the Middle Ages or art history.
