Book Thoughts: The Kingdom of God (Van Halteren)

  • tells the overarching story of the entire Bible
  • each page is succinctly crafted
  • illustrations brilliantly correlate to each page’s “mood” (i.e., bright & happy in the garden of Eden but dark & fiery when Pharaoh refuses to let God’s people go)

Type: board book
Ages: 1-4
Author: Tyler Van Halteren
Illustrator: Aleksander Jasinski

If your little one is at the lower end of the above age range, the book might be a little long for one sitting. However, they might be enthralled with it, you never know!

Though a few of the rhymes get a little jolted in their cadence, it’s overall a smooth read-aloud. I really like the author’s suggestion for older kids to memorize the rhymes–what a good way to instill biblical truths!
