- just about everything either is a house for something or lives in a house of sorts!
- expertly crafted rhymes
- fascinating artwork
Type: picture book
Ages: 2-6
Author: Mary Ann Hoberman
Illustrator: Betty Fraser
This is easily one of my favorite picture books to read aloud. The text is delightful by itself, but the extraordinary illustrations seal the deal. There are so many items to look at and discover while each stanza brings new thoughts and visuals as well.
Here are only some of the many “houses” mentioned:
a hangar’s a house for a plane
a pod is a place for a pea
cartons are houses for crackers
a sandwich is home for some ham
pens can be houses for ink
a book is a house for a story
Definitely see if your library has a copy, but it’s also not very expensive to buy new. Your kids will love it!
