Book Thoughts: Home for Christmas (Brett)

  • ends in a cozy Christmas scene all readers will appreciate
  • delightful illustrations show an abundance of animals: from a pig to owls to moose and more

Type: picture book
Ages: 4-8
Author: Jan Brett

I love that this book is a part of our home library and gets pulled out each Christmas season! The troll boy has an adventurous time trying to find comfortable situations away from his family (just to avoid helping and working), and his journey will surely be appreciated by your young ones. The Christmasy celebration at the end ties up the book so sweetly.

As always, her illustrations are outstanding. They always call for extra time to study and find charming details one doesn’t see at first glance. Definitely see if you can find this one if you’re looking to grow your Christmasy book stacks this year. 🙂
