It would be a beautiful thing if all families had this sweet treasure of a book in their home. The stories can be read to a wide range of ages, but there are a few moments of intensity parents of younger children might want to be ready for:
A child falls through ice and takes many months to recover.
Because of a boy’s lie, his little brother is permanently injured (implies loss of leg use).
A boy finds it funny to hurt a puppy.
Two children almost drown.
Several children throw rocks at an elderly lady, causing injury.
Each of these events are very brief and so lovingly written that I think most kids six and older would be okay, especially if it’s being read aloud by a parent who can gauge the situation.
Scripture is gently woven throughout, the illustrations are gorgeous, and I heartily recommend it!
