Book Thoughts: Hello Lighthouse (Blackall)

  • tells the story of a man who lives/works at a lighthouse
  • beautifully written & richly illustrated
  • reminiscent of pre-modern technology
  • clean language

Type: extra tall picture book
Ages: 2-7
Author & Illustrator: Sophie Blackall

I love this book. Its extra height adds to its uniqueness–and the illustrations of inside the tall lighthouse come to life that much more. You can’t help but love the hard working man.

A lovely page spread of details is at the back of the book. It tells more of the author’s story and how her interest in lighthouses grew. There are some very interesting details, and it could greatly assist a homeschool mom for a possible unit study!

Update: I have since read more of Blackall’s books and cannot recommend any of them to you except for Farmhouse and Hello Lighthouse. Follow me on Goodreads for more details.
