Book Thoughts: Gregory, the Terrible Eater (Sharmat)

  • funny story about a goat family whose son is a strange eater
  • relatable for any child who’s ever not liked his or her dinner
  • clean language

Type: picture book
Ages: 3-7
Author: Mitchell Sharmat
Illustrator: Jose Aruego, Ariane Dewey

Gregory’s parents are baffled and frustrated at their son’s eating habits. After consulting with a doctor (also a goat), the adults come up with a solution! The end of the book shows what that solution is, though some (human) parents might not like that they “compromised.” Either way, it’s an amusing and classic story you won’t regret reading at least once.
