Book Thoughts: The Gingerbread Cowboy (Squires)

  • an amusing spin on the classic story–desert style!
  • instead of a fox, a coyote is the trickster in this tale
  • clean language

Type: picture book
Ages: 3-8
Author: Janet Squires
Illustrator: Holly Berry

“Giddyup, giddyup as fast as you can. You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!”

They don’t actually mention Arizona in the storyline, but since saguaros are depicted on multiple pages and the creatures fit, I’m calling it an Arizona book. 🙂 It’s definitely good for any desert dwelling, though!

Fun for all (except the gingerbread man). 😉
