Book Thoughts: George vs. George (Schanzer)

  • describes The American Revolution from two vantage points: George Washington and King George III
  • packed with info, unique & attractive presentation
  • lots of actual historical quotes
  • convo points (each 1 small mention): tar-and-feather (this also shows in 1 illustration), battles & deaths, drinking, “chased women,” rape, scalping, torture, cannibalism
  • resources & index included

Type: lengthy picture book
Ages: 8+
Author: Rosalyn Schanzer

Just to reiterate, the most concerning words on my graphic are each one small mention. I might have replaced them when I read them to a kindergartner, but we leave it on our history books shelf now that the kids are older. It’s really a great resource. Probably more than I ever learned in public school. 🫢🙃
