Book Thoughts: The Family Under the Bridge (Carlson)

  • potentially interesting story that fizzles quickly
  • lots of lying without remorse or apology
(excepting one small instance of private remorse)
  • so many French words makes reading aloud somewhat choppy
  • convo topics: gypsies, fortune telling, keeping secrets from parents, “stupid,” cigarettes, some Catholic church terms, laziness, probably more…

Type: chapter book
Ages: none
Author: Natalie Savage Carlson

You might gather that we didn’t care for this one. 😉 I will say it ends well, with the main guy “manning up” and caring for others, but doesn’t excuse the sorry rest of the book. 🙃
