Book Thoughts: Duck for Turkey Day (Jules)

  • a Vietnamese girl in America frets that her family won’t be eating turkey on “Turkey Day”
  • great lessons in multi-cultural awareness and appreciating family
  • beautiful and cheerful illustrations

Type: picture book
Ages: 4-8
Author: Jacqueline Jules
Illustrator: Kathryn Mitter

I loved how the main character worried about something without being disrespectful to her parents. She ultimately embraced how they were leading her in family traditions and soon found out that many of her classmates had a huge variety in their traditions as well. It’s a sweet book.
