This story is told in a matter-of-fact way and gives life to what can be an obscure part of church history, even when many of us have used the very catechism they created with our own children!
There is no Christian who wouldn’t benefit from studying church history, and this is only one significant moment of many. Let’s instill in our kids a love for learning and the Berean fervor for truth, as the men of the Assembly exemplify for us. Pulling up modern photos of the Abbey could be a great addition for your children–the place in the book really exists! 🙂 If possible, even take them to see it.
I am now looking forward to reading others in this series!
Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. (Jude 3)
…they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. (Acts 17:11)
