  • a 15-year-old boy experiences the joy and liberation which comes from giving to others
  • realistic and relatable
  • brief comparison of their barn with the stable in which Jesus was born
  • cozy illustrations

Type: picture book
Ages: 4-12
Author: Pearl S. Buck
Illustrator: Mark Buehner

A simply wonderful book! Upon realizing how much his father loved him, Rob lands on a perfect way to reciprocate the feeling, which then allows the father a very special time with his family he wouldn’t have had otherwise.

Though the boy may be older, even a very young child can understand the book’s message. It’s poignant and a great choice for the Christmas season. I only wish it was easier to find a copy of, so my apologies for the tease. Hopefully your library has it like ours does!
