Book Thoughts: The Christmas Cat (Tudor Holmes)

  • story of an abandoned cat who finds a new home on Christmas
  • Santa mentioned
  • family sets up a crèche (nativity) scene with Mary, Jesus and animals

Type: picture book
Ages: 4-7
Author: Efner Tudor Holmes
Illustrator: Tasha Tudor

The main thing I found strange in this book is how the family made such a big ceremony of lighting candles in front of the crèche scene…and then they read “The Night Before Christmas.” What? Wouldn’t they read something related to the story of Jesus’ birth? Why a secular Santa book? Odd.

Besides that, it was cute but rather disjointed and unfinished. It needed more, in my opinion.
