Book Thoughts: A Child’s Book of Art (Micklethwait)

  • cleverly uses real art to teach words, numbers, names, colors opposites, etc.
  • artwork from a variety of time periods
  • nudity in a few pictures

Type: extra large picture book
Ages: 7+
Curator: Lucy Micklethwait

The idea for this book is unique. It introduces young children to the world of art in an amusing way.

The immodest photos are my only main complaint. I know arguments for this can go to the extreme in both directions, so I’m not going down that rabbit trail. But I remember clearly my children being uncomfortable with them when they were younger.

It is part of Sonlight’s Pre-K program, but the publishers recommend ages 7+.
