  • tons of detail packed into this readable book
  • mix of illustrations and real photos
  • great “Did You Know” section at back with extra facts

Type: long picture book (6 chapters)
Ages: 8-12
Author: Simonetta Carr
Illustrator: Troy Howell

This beautiful hardcover book is a gem on our shelves. We don’t have the whole series, but every one we do have is easily 5 stars. The author is very thorough in her research!

If you read this aloud to children, I’d recommend breaking it up. One chapter a day gives plenty toward discussion. 🙂

My favorite method to teach history is through biographies. Such a powerful way to learn!
