- a family moves from the city to the country
- the big sister describes all the many steps it takes to build a house
- great illustrations emphasize all the steps
Type: picture book
Ages: 4-8
Author: Jonathan Bean
This would be a great book for kids who like details or how things are made. I even found myself studying the illustration with the house plans, ha! There are several different kinds of vehicles and tools described/depicted that will surely be interesting to some. The parents build their own house from the ground up, with friends and relatives helping at certain intervals (the community feeling was very dear). It’s a long, hard project over a few seasonal changes, so the “moving day” toward the end is appreciated that much more.
Really enjoyed this one!
