Our family happens to have an eight-year-old about as in love with birds as Audubon was. In his short life, he’s drawn hundreds of birds (increasingly well) and has much of his guide books memorized, leading to accurate sightings and recognitions. For this reason, we especially appreciated the short biography of John James Audubon!

It could be included in school curriculum from several different angles (including a study of Pennsylvania or France), or just read for pleasure. Of course, as it’s a picture book, it doesn’t cover the gamut of his life, but it’s a memorable introduction nonetheless.
