Book Thoughts: Betsy-Tacy (Lovelace)

  • two young girls become best friends, so often together that people started combining their names, Betsy-Tacy
  • amusing at times, imaginative and innocent
  • convo: a pipe mentioned, a sibling dies

Type: early chapter book
Ages: 4-10
Author: Maud Hart Lovelace
Illustrator: Lois Lenski

These two girls will quickly win your hearts. Their friendship is sweet, and each chapter is another delightful installment to the story. Regarding the death, one of the girls grieves and the other so kindly encourages her. I believe it’s appropriate for 4-year-olds to hear, but you know your children best. Betsy is 4 when the book starts, but it’s still easily enjoyable by older ages.

I hope to read more in this series one day and will update this review if I do!
