If you like reading book lists like I do (heh), you’ve probably seen this title before! By the way, it’s more like a longer picture book with “chapters” but it can also be a great first chapter book if there’s a child who’d be encouraged by a “chapter book” accomplishment!
It also makes a great read-aloud–especially with the fun repetition of a couple phrases which build the suspense.
This was based on a true story in Pennsylvania, with a few embellishments.
