Book Thoughts: The All-Together Quilt (Rockwell)

  • based on a true story, a community of a broad range of ages and ethnicities comes together and make a quilt
  • gently informs the readers what many of the steps look like in quilt making without feeling too educational
  • illustrations are a must for the full effect!

Type: picture book
Ages: 4-10
Author: Lizzie Rockwell

There truly is something special about doing projects together with friends, especially when they take many weeks (or months) to complete. I love how this book shows kids (and their parents) the love, time and hard work that goes into even a single quilt. I personally never appreciated it before I learned to quilt myself!

Definitely look this book up if you’re learning about teamwork, crafts, sewing, or even celebrating National Quilting Month (March, by the way). It is straightforward and well done.
