Book Thoughts: Adèle & Simon (McClintock)

Adèle & Simon (McClintock) | keenlykept.com
  • sister & brother have many fun stops on their way home from school
  • brother keeps losing his belongings, turning each page spread into a “seek & find” if desired
  • magnificent illustrations with a vintage feel

Type: picture book
Ages: 3-8
Author: Barbara McClintock

A delight to read. Big sister Adèle picks up Simon from school. On their way home, they chat with acquaintances, see a parade, visit a museum, watch a puppet show in the park, and more!

Adèle greatly tires of helping Simon always find his things but is a good big sister. Ultimately, the community ends up helping him.

The back of the book reveals that the illustrations were actually drawn from real locations in France and gives a little blurb about each one. Very neat.
