Book Thoughts: The Abandoned Lighthouse (Lamb)

  • a bear and a boy become stranded on an abandoned lighthouse island
  • they help a ship avoid hitting the rocks
  • vintage-feel to the illustrations

Type: picture book
Ages: 3-7
Author: Albert Lamb
Illustrator: David McPhail

One of the first descriptive words that came to mind when reading this was “far-fetched.” Ha! But books don’t always need to reflect reality. Parents reading the book will wonder where the boy’s parents are, but was that information necessary to the story? Nah. In this case, I can imagine most kids will love hearing this gentle adventure read aloud.

Hope you enjoy this sweet, clean story!
