Mr. Wilson is a gifted word crafter. I truly enjoyed much of this book just regarding the imagery and unique descriptions sprinkled throughout.

Beyond that, though, we have a zinger of a finale! This third book wraps up various loose ends, increases our connection with certain characters, and concludes very satisfactorily, albeit not without some grief.

Alex has always wanted the adventures he’s only ever read about in his father’s books, but when he comes face-to-face with it, life seems to be a whole lot more complicated. How to resist the bad that’s in all of us and draw out the good, for the sake of others?

Have I mentioned action? Ha! Man, it never stops. We zip all over history, in and out of time, are always confronting bad guys intent on doing violence, and hardly stop for a breath. The fantastic part is…you don’t want to. Plus, at just the right times, Wilson occasionally inserts an “lol” moment, breaking up the tension and keeping it appropriate for 12-year-olds and up.

The poignant moments make a re-read highly necessary to glean all the goodness from the book. Discussions could go down rabbits holes all day–regarding the towers people build or how we all have some bad in us or even what it looks like when one tiny act can change all of history. Re-reads can also lessen the suspense and allow for other observations and enjoyment.

I’ll be placing this trilogy on any relevant list of recommendations. If your readers are old enough, buckle up!
