Authors: Joel R. Beeke, Stephen McCaskell

This book was written more for adults but can certainly be shared with children. I appreciated the beginning pages that expelled some negative myths about Puritans while also encouraging readers to stand firm for the truth.

I have two disappointments. First, many of the photos are really dark. It’s certainly understandable that the photography team had limited time for good weather during trips, but it’s significant enough to be worth a note. Second, there is no index, which would have been quite helpful!

“One of the things I most admire about the Puritans is their ability to keep eternity always in view. They knew that being ready to die is the first step in learning to live. They knew that they were living with one foot in each world; this present one, which will pass away, and an eternal one, which will never perish, spoil, or fade. They knew what it was like to be a pilgrim on a journey toward a new world.” –Joel R. Beeke

Overall, it’s a good book, especially for those who aren’t able to travel to see all the sites in person. We’ll enjoy displaying this one our shelves.
