Book Thoughts: Seek and Find: The First Christmas (Parker)

  • colorful and attractive illustrations with many things to find!
  • convo: text slightly strays from biblical version*
  • sturdy pages support being a favorite for years

Type: large board book
Ages: 2-8
Author: Sarah Parker
Illustrator: André Parker

I like this book for the fact that you can dwell on one aspect of the Christmas story more slowly and deeply as you read through it with your child. There is a bit of text accompanying each page spread, which tells part of the story of Jesus’s birth. It also includes the Bible reference, which is doubly helpful as:

*The Bible doesn’t say Mary gave birth the night she came into town, there were probably more than three wise men, etc. These small points are in almost all Christian Christmas books, so sprinkle them into conversations with your children. It’s important they know the Bible is always correct over any other book, even if we love the book.

This would make a unique baby shower or birthday gift! Even after you’ve found all the hidden items, there are more listed on the inside cover for further seeking. Enjoy!
